MY EXPERIENCE
As soon as I turned 18 I got that news that I'd won a competition i'd entered to win a free interailling pass and I spent the first 2 months after leaving school, travelling around Europe, on my own, only focused on doing the most interesting thing that I could think of that day.
Although that period of my life ruined any desire for me to live a 'normal life', it taught me almost more than my entire years at school and showed me that there's lakes in the world where the water is actually blue. Perhaps more importantly, it gave me my first experience to understand that your mind completely changes when you're put in a new environment and taught me that you have complete control over your life and that if you don't like where you're at, and you're willing to step outside of what you know, its not that difficult to escape the mediocrity of everyday life.
Since then I've completed most peoples bucket lists by road tripping in some of the most scenic locations in Europe inc. Iceland, the Dolomites, Madeira & Norway to name just a few.
There's no doubt in my mind that had I not been offered the chance to take unlimited trains around Europe over a two month period, for free, the trip I took as an 18 year old would not have happened and as a result I wouldn't have all of the sick experiences to look back on, not only from those months, but including the subsequent trips that were inspired by my experiences on those first weeks away.
I'm super keen about trying to get as many people as possible comfortable with travelling to new places, and even better if you're willing to do it yourself. It's hard to summarise the sense of freedom you have when you turn up in a new country, with an amount of money, and no strict plans, but anyone who's travelled solo before will vouch that its not a feeling you can replicate anywhere else in your life/
That's somewhat of the reason to why I'm going to spend some time trying to build out 'go see the world'. I've actually owned the domain name since 2021, knowing that it was a message I wanted to push at some point but I've sat on the idea for a couple of years (stupid) and only now am I going to try do something with it. Like most ideas, I'm sure this will mutate from the current plan but this is me wanting to get the ball rolling and start trying to give people the courage to get their own journeys started today,
